The power of gratitude

In Sri Chinmoy's poems and talks he often mentions the power that thoughts and feelings of gratitude have to change our lives. I'd like to offer this collection of quotes on the subject by different authors.

"There is a calmness to a life lived in gratitude, a quiet joy."

Ralph Blum

"A grateful thought toward heaven is of itself a prayer."

Gotthold Lessing.

"Much unhappiness results from our inability to remember the nice things that happen to us."

WN Rieger

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us."

Albert Schweitzer

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful."

The Buddha

"Abundance is in large part an attitude."

Sue Thoele

"Gratitude unlocks the fulness of life.  It turns what we have into enough, and more.  It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.  It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.   Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."
